Infineon’s HybridPACK Drive G2 Fusion power module for traction converters is the first plug-and-play power module to combine Infineon’s silicon and silicon carbide technology. This solution achieves a balance between performance and cost efficiency that opens up new possibilities for optimizing inverters.
According to Infineon, the new module can reduce the SiC content per vehicle while maintaining the same performance and efficiency of the vehicle and lowering system costs. For example, system suppliers can achieve almost the system efficiency of a complete SiC solution with only 30% SiC and 70% silicon.
The module delivers up to 220 kW in the 750 V class. It offers high reliability over the entire temperature range from-40 °C to +175 °C as well as improved thermal conductivity. The special properties of CoolSiC technology and Infineon’s silicon IGBT-EDT3 technology with very fast switch-on time enable the use of both a single-gate driver and a dual-gate driver. This makes it easy to convert silicon or SiC converters into fusion converters.
Infineon will be showcasing the new module at electronica 2024 in Munich from November 12 to 15. (jr)
