Harman has unveiled Sing Drive, a new in-car entertainment platform that integrates karaoke and sing-along features directly into vehicles’ infotainment and audio systems. At the heart of the platform is AI-powered real-time separation of vocals and music. This allows passengers to sing along to songs from streaming services or personal music libraries without having to rely on special karaoke catalogs. Voice recording is handled by microphones built into the vehicle. Support for external microphones is planned for the future.
According to Harman, Sing Drive was developed specifically for automotive use and is fully integrated into the vehicle’s architecture. Unlike smartphone-based solutions, this is designed to ensure low latency and consistent audio quality. Digital signal processing with echo and noise cancellation is also intended to ensure clear voice reproduction.
The platform supports solo, duet, and group modes and can be flexibly adapted to different vehicle classes. Automakers can configure the feature set to range from simple sing-along functions to a complete karaoke solution with synchronized lyrics and AI features. (oe)
