NVIDIA has unveiled Halos OS, a safety-certified software platform for autonomous vehicles. The solution is part of the NVIDIA Halos framework and is designed to provide robotaxi developers with a unified foundation for the development, validation, and operation of AI-based driving systems.

Halos OS combines an operating system designed to meet ISO 26262 ASIL D requirements with standardized hardware and software interfaces, middleware, and rule-based safety functions that monitor AI models and keep their behavior within defined limits. The platform is complemented by cloud-based tools for training, simulation, and validation that cover the entire development process, from the data center to the vehicle. (oe)

According to NVIDIA, the platform is designed to accelerate the transition from prototypes to production-ready robotaxi systems. Developers can test AI models using extensive simulations and a standardized safety evaluation framework even before deploying them on public roads. The safety methodology is based on(oe)
