Vector and HighTec EDV-Systeme have shown that AUTOSAR software components written in Rust can be efficiently embedded in an existing AUTOSAR Classic environment. With the basic software MICROSAR Classic Safe from Vector and the LLVM open source-based Rust and C/C++ compiler tools from HighTec for Infineon AURIX TC3x and TC4x, developers can now use the Rust programming language with all its advantages for functional safety applications in automotive ECUs up to ASIL D. Both Vector’s basic software and HighTec’s compiler are safety-certified according to ISO 26262. Developers can also integrate newly developed Rust code with existing C/C++ code. (oe)
