Starting in 2027, Mobileye’s Cloud-Enhanced Advanced Driver Assist technology is set to be used in select vehicle models from the Stellantis automotive group. The technology is based on cloud-based Road Experience Management (REM), which uses anonymized vehicle data to improve the performance of modern driver-assistance systems.
REM uses the front camera of vehicles equipped with Mobileye’s EyeQ processor to capture information about road layout, lanes, traffic signs, and other infrastructure elements. The anonymized data is processed in the cloud into a continuously updated digital road map and made available to the vehicles again. This improves features such as lane guidance on unmarked roads and hands-free driving under driver supervision in defined operating areas. The first applications are scheduled to be available starting in 2027 for select vehicle models in the U.S., with other markets to follow.
According to Mobileye, the REM network already covers more than 95 percent of public roads in Europe and the U.S. Five of the world’s ten largest automakers provide data for the platform, which processed information from more than eight million vehicles and over 34 billion miles driven last year.
