At IAA Transportation, ETAS is presenting Next Generation Diagnostics, a new diagnostic solution for software-defined commercial vehicles. The solution combines AI-powered fault analysis with a service-oriented diagnostic approach based on the ASAM SOVD (Service-Oriented Vehicle Diagnostics) standard.
Modern software-defined vehicle architectures are increasingly posing challenges for conventional diagnostic methods, as faults often occur in a distributed, dynamic, and context-dependent manner. ETAS therefore integrates vehicle data, diagnostic functions, and service information to identify the causes of faults more quickly, prepare repairs in a more targeted manner, and reduce vehicle downtime. A key focus is on increasing the first-time-fix rate to resolve faults during the first visit to the service center, thereby improving service quality, vehicle availability, and customer satisfaction. At the same time, the goal is to reduce warranty and follow-up costs. This is based on the Full Circle Diagnostics approach, in which insights from vehicle operation, the service center, service, and quality management are systematically fed back into development and production. Intelligent onboard diagnostic software based on ASAM SOVD creates standardized and scalable diagnostic processes for service-oriented vehicle architectures and supports the transition to software-based aftersales processes.
