ISELED 2.0: Intelligent LED technology for the next generation of vehicles

With ISELED 2.0, the ISELED Alliance presents the next stage in the development of its digital LED technology. The ISELED system enables the individual control and calibration of several hundred LEDs, resulting in a significantly more uniform light quality. Deviations in color and brightness that can arise due to production variations, temperature, or environmental influences are thus reliably compensated for.

ISELED 2.0 also significantly expands the range of applications and precision: in addition to classic ambient lighting, interactive lighting concepts for interiors can be implemented, as well as safety-related functions or dynamic signaling in exteriors. The system allows up to 4079 elements to be addressed via a simple two-wire interface, opening up new possibilities for human-machine interfaces and functional lighting solutions. In addition to RGB LEDs, matrix LEDs, sensors, and other peripheral components can also be integrated.

„ISELED 2.0 represents the next milestone in automotive lighting technology. The system combines high integration capability with simple control, opening up completely new design and functional options for manufacturers“,explained Robert Isele, CEO of Inova Semiconductors, on the occasion of the presentation of the new technology at the ISELED conference in Munich.

Another significant advance is the integration of ISELED technology into the ILaS network, which enables LEDs to be connected to other components via a single cable. At the same time, highly integrated system-in-package solutions have been developed that make optimum use of the limited installation space in modern vehicle architectures.

The ISELED consortium, which now includes more than 60 companies from the semiconductor, optoelectronics, measurement technology, software, and automotive lighting sectors, is continuing to expand its Digital LED Ecosystem platform with ISELED 2.0. The aim is to establish the technology as a future-proof standard for intelligent, networked lighting solutions in automobiles. (oe)
