Data logging is a central component in the development and validation of modern advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and functions for automated driving, among other things. However, many providers of high-quality data loggers are confronted with a crucial gap: The right software platform for sensor integration, synchronization and data processing is missing or has to be developed in-house at considerable expense.
With the integration of RTMaps (Real-Time Multisensor Applications) – a software solution from Intempora, a dSPACE Group company – dSPACE closes this gap and supports hardware suppliers in providing their customers with a complete turnkey solution for data acquisition. This not only reduces system complexity, but also the time and cost required to build ready-to-use prototypes.
Scalable software for demanding logging applications
RTMaps enables the parallel acquisition, precise time stamping and synchronization of sensor data from camera, LiDAR, radar, GPS and vehicle bus systems – with the highest bandwidths and a fully modular structure. More than 600 sensors from market-leading manufacturers are already supported out-of-the-box, as are all common logging formats (including MDF4, ROSbags, PCAP, MCAP). The low-code development environment allows simple configuration of workflows via drag & drop and can be flexibly expanded to include user-defined functions.
Functions such as pre-triggered or triggered recording, context-based logging strategies and the option to avoid redundant data enable targeted and memory-efficient logging – a decisive advantage in large-volume multi-sensor scenarios.
Partnership model for logger manufacturers
dSPACE offers logger manufacturers special RTMaps Developer Studio licences, technical support, training and joint go-to-market activities. In addition, partners benefit from native integration with dSPACE development tools – for seamless end-to-end workflows from road testing to HIL/SIL testing.
The aim is to work with partners to provide a new generation of powerful, ready-to-use logging systems for the mobility of tomorrow. Interested manufacturers can contact dSPACE directly to discuss customized integration and cooperation models. (oe)
