244,544 new passenger cars were registered in November 2024 according to the KBA. At -0.5 percent, the registration volume was almost at the same level as the same month of the previous year. New commercial registrations rose by +4.3 percent, accounting for 68.0 percent of the total. Private new registrations fell by -9.3 percent in the month under review.
Among the German brands, MAN achieved the most significant increase in registrations in November with +85.1 percent, accounting for 0.1 per ent. Porsche also recorded double-digit growth in new registrations (+16.8%/1.1%). Mercedes (+5.8%/10.6%) and BMW (+2.2%/9.2%) recorded single-digit growth, while VW achieved an increase of 0.7 percent. The number of new registrations fell for Smart (-42.6%/0.3%), Mini (-24.5%/1.2%), Audi (-19.2%/7.1%), Opel (-7.5%/4.8%) and Ford (-6.7%/3.2%). VW was the German brand with the highest share at 19.5 percent.
35,167 new electric (BEV) cars were registered, 21.8 percent fewer than in the same month last year, accounting for 14.4 percent of the total. 94,554 passenger cars, 20.3 percent more than in the same month last year, were equipped with hybrid drive systems, including 20,604 plug-in hybrids, which were 13.7 percent up on the same month last year and accounted for 8.4 percent of the total. Average CO2 emissions rose by 3.3 percent compared to November 2023 and amounted to 114.8 g/km.
In the commercial vehicle market, new registrations of tractor units fell by 31.3 percent, meaning that tractor units fell by 23.6 percent overall in the month under review. (oe)
